Melatonin 1.9mg – New composition – Better than ever!
Melatonin 1.9mg from EssentialSeries is the new presentation of one of our most iconic and successful products: Melatonin; from which we have removed the high dose of vitamin B6, and taken the opportunity to renew its composition, eliminating additives, making it more ‘clean label’ than ever.
Melatonin is a neurohormone that the human body naturally produces. When daylight fades and night falls, our circadian rhythms regulate melatonin production as an endogenous way to signal our body that it is time to sleep. Modern lifestyles are disrupting this natural process, which is why melatonin supplementation has gained significant popularity in recent decades.
HSN melatonin is a product in small, easy-to-take tablets, high concentration and suitable for all types of people as it contains no allergens or animal-derived ingredients.
Your usual melatonin. Now more convenient to use
1.9mg – Higher melatonin content for maximum effectiveness
Melatonin formulations as a food supplement must have a content of less than 2mg per daily dose, as this concentration is considered sufficiently effective to exert its beneficial properties, free of any adverse effects. Higher concentration presentations, of 5, 10 or more milligrams, cannot be marketed as food supplements in Europe, so you may find them in American companies and brands.
We have formulated our melatonin in the highest permitted use range: 1.9mg, so you can benefit from the maximum concentration and effectiveness completely safely.
Enjoy almost two complete milligrams of pure immediate release melatonin in each tablet of our product.
Clean label formulation – 0% unnecessary additives
At HSN we have rejected, from our beginnings, the unnecessarily high use of additives and other compounds added to food supplements on the market; we believe it is not necessary to add so many things when they are not essential to achieve a good result and when they do not provide anything functional to the product.
Although at the beginning of our adventure we formulated products with coloured capsules, we soon understood that enhancing the aesthetic appearance was not necessary. It was basically to opacify a capsule so that its powder content was not visible ‘because it is not pretty’, unnecessarily lengthening its ingredient list with colouring agents.
We rectified, because it is wise to do so, and we have removed colourings from our capsules and tablets. Now, we only use natural coat agents, based on vitamins and other compounds that colour.
However, to prepare our melatonin we have not added anything, just crystalline cellulose, and we will now explain what it is and why it is present!

Cellulose is a vegetable fibre, present in plants, with specific technological properties and that is why it is present:
How can you prepare a tablet with 1.9mg of powder? Think about it, it is normal to ask why we do not use just melatonin and nothing else, but… 1.9mg? There is not enough ‘volume’ of powder to make a tablet with that amount, you need to ‘load’ it, use something that allows you to compress that powder. And that something is cellulose, an ‘inert’ agent that we have added, that has no caloric contribution or nutritional properties of any kind and that is there to ‘make volume’ so that there is a minimum amount of powder to compress to prepare the small tablets of our melatonin. Cellulose has an excellent compression capacity and, together with our development procedures, avoids the disintegration of our melatonin tablets. If you are used to receiving tablets that break up or fill with powder at the bottom of the container over time: with HSN that does not happen, thanks to our quality control.
Without vitamin B6. Why did we remove it?
Our initial melatonin formulation contained vitamin B6 in its composition. A high amount of specifically 12.4mg per unit.
This contribution was not random, as vitamin B6 acts as a metabolic cofactor in the natural synthesis of melatonin. Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and helps regulate the nervous system.
However, many users found it difficult to combine our brand’s melatonin with other food supplements they were already using that contained high amounts of Vitamin B6, such as many multivitamins.
After several meetings of our R&D team and many tests to improve our formula, we have opted to optimise it by eliminating the vitamin B6 content, making it easier to combine it with other products, such as multivitamins that contain it. After reviewing the most recent studies that do not seem to indicate a positive effect on the effectiveness of a melatonin-based food supplement, we have removed vitamin B6, as its function is more purely neurological at a physiological level.
Now our melatonin does not contain other added nutrients, it does not have vitamins that could interfere with other products you use, it is 100% pure melatonin without anything else. You can combine it with any other food supplement.
Small tablets – Easy to swallow
Given that the melatonin content per tablet, although it is a high concentration individually, is actually only 1.9mg of powder + the necessary cellulose for its compression, we have used our system to make the smallest possible tablets.
Some users have difficulty using capsules and tablets, as they may find it difficult to swallow them, there are people who often have trouble swallowing food supplement tablets.
But if this happens to you, you will not find these problems with our melatonin, as its dimensions are small and the tablets are easy to swallow without difficulty.
Immediate release melatonin. Get to know it

What types of melatonin are there and where can I find them?
There are mainly two types of melatonin commonly available:
Immediate release melatonin, which is the most commonly used and the one you will frequently find in almost all melatonin products on the market, is the melatonin we use in this supplement.
On the other hand, there is sequential release melatonin, a melatonin that releases, partially, more slowly, and which some people prefer to use, either for their interests in relation to the release time of the compound or for their particular personal preferences.
At HSN you can find not only IR melatonin (immediate release) as in this product, but also sequential release melatonin in our product: Time Release Melatonin (Melotime™) developed in an incredible and innovative format of delicious chewable tablets with a creamy strawberry flavour.
Immediate release melatonin release time
Immediate release melatonin has a very rapid absorption. Studies showing the kinetics of the compound establish that within a relatively short time, around 30 minutes after use, it reaches its peak release during the absorption process. Therefore, our product recommendation is to use it 30 minutes before going to bed.
Sequential release melatonin release is slower and more variable, its peak blood concentration does not reach such high values at the same dose, as not as much is released at once.
Main use of immediate release melatonin
Immediate release melatonin, due to the high concentration it reaches quickly after ingestion, is primarily used for the traditionally associated properties of melatonin, which is why immediate release is the most classic and widely used.
Its main use is to induce sleep, either as a habit or in cases of jet lag due to a change of region and time zone.

- Melatonin helps to alleviate the subjective sensation of jet lag.
- Melatonin helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. Take 1 mg shortly before going to bed.
If you have trouble falling asleep, immediate release melatonin is your best option.
Melatonin: A key compound in the 21st century
Melatonin production in people is natural and normal. Our body produces it as a fundamental part of circadian regulation to indicate when we need to be awake and when it is time to sleep, which is why it is used to induce sleep.
One of the major current problems, at a behavioural level, is that we are chronically exposed to specific light waves, called blue light, emitted by our electronic devices (mobile phones, tablets, televisions and computers), which our eyes detect as ‘daylight’. As a consequence, when we use these devices late in the evening or at night, our body is unable to maintain the natural melatonin production cycles, because for our eyes ‘it is never night’.
Many people experience significant deregulation in their melatonin production because of this, and for them melatonin supplementation is very useful and efficient.
Can you combine melatonin with other compounds before bed?
Yes.
Melatonin has no side effects for joint use with other food supplements and it is common to find it in products combined with specific amino acids such as theanine or with plant extracts such as lemon balm or passion flower.
If you are looking for a complete formula that contains several compounds focused on improving sleep, you should not miss Sleep Care, with immediate release melatonin.
Does melatonin have side effects?
This is a topic that creates a lot of confusion. The answer is: No.
Melatonin, due to its powerful effects as a neurohormone, has been unfairly misunderstood by less informed users.
Melatonin, used at the established daily doses, below 2mg, has no reported adverse effects in healthy people, and does not produce hangover, drowsiness, delayed effect the next morning, or any associated issues you may read about on the internet.
Melatonin is safe for daily use, in the long term, and does not generate tolerance, meaning you do not need to increase the dose for it to continue having the same effect, nor adaptation, meaning stopping its use suddenly does not cause problems or cause effects from stopping its use (such as new sleep problems from not taking melatonin).
Melatonin is a supplement to your diet, use it as such and help yourself to rest better than ever.
